The pandemic may have changed a lot of things, especially when it comes to work. It has sped up the transition to the digital realm for a lot of companies making jobs that can be done online in high demand.
However, despite the upward trend of online jobs that include anything from content writing openings to professional Microsoft SQL server monitoring posts, some traditional jobs will still be around. These jobs may continue to take on their normal form or somehow slightly adapt to the different changes we’re going through right now.
With almost everyone making the jump to the online realm, a lot of people who used to have or dreamed of having traditional jobs and careers were faced with a few uncertainties about what the future holds for them. But even with all the physical distancing happening right now, some conventional careers will be irreplaceable for the time being.
Here are some of them:
1. Physician or Doctor
Physicians and doctors are considered frontline workers in our battle against COVID-19. And it is one profession that will not go away any time soon. In a post-pandemic world, people will still require medical treatment and even if certain practices become automated, a physician, doctor, or specialist will still be an integral part of the community because of the high value of their expertise and services.
2. Dentist
Just like doctors and physicians, dentists will be around for a long time. People will still need a dentist’s services in a post-pandemic society. Oral healthcare will still be one of the people’s top healthcare needs.
3. Teacher or Educator
This is one of those jobs that have somehow adapted to the changing times and have gone online as remote schooling and distance learning have been put in place by educational institutions. Nevertheless, teaching, one of the world’s oldest and noblest professions, will still be a top career choice and is here to stay.
4. Writer
Although most writing jobs are now offered online because of the ever-increasing demand for digital and content marketing, writing as a profession will never go away. Even if most writers get their work published online, there will still be some publishing houses that will print hard copies of certain written materials. Either way, writing will be one of the most accessible jobs in a post-pandemic world.
5. Marketer
Marketing, just like writing, is no stranger to the online world as a lot of marketers today have already incorporated digital marketing into their strategies. As long as businesses continue to exist and products and services need to be marketed, there will always be a need for marketers.
6. Programmer
Programmers will be in high demand as the world transitions to a mostly online society. This one is pretty obvious because the need for all types of programmers will continue to soar as businesses and companies will require their services for encoding, debugging, troubleshooting, and maintaining different types of systems and software needed to smoothly run their operations.
7. Engineer
Even if most businesses transition to the digital and virtual realms, the physical world will still require the services and expertise of engineers for construction and building. Although drones and automated equipment can be employed to replace certain human aspects of construction, the entire process will still need the mind of a qualified engineer to pull off.
8. Architect or Designer
Just as engineers will continue to work in a post-pandemic world, so will architects and designers, despite the proliferation of design apps. Contrary to popular belief, architects and designers are not just trained to come up with aesthetic designs. They undergo proper training in different engineering sciences as well as different design philosophies and theories to succeed in their field. The human mind’s creativity cannot be replicated by any robot or computer.
9. Transport Services
Even if Tesla produces cars that run on autopilot, people involved in transport services will still be a staple in society as the need to shuttle people and cargo from one location to another will still be around. Truck drivers, chauffeurs, pilots, and other similar professionals will still have jobs even in the new normal.
10. Managers
As the world’s workforce has expanded and made its way online, the demand for managers is set to steadily increase, especially with remote work making it possible for people from different parts of the world to collaborate and work together. People who are highly-skilled in overseeing teams, meeting deadlines, and producing great results will never run out of job opportunities in a world beyond the pandemic.
With all the hoopla about job security in a pandemic or post-pandemic world, some jobs are bound to stay pretty much the same, even if they do take on a slightly different form or approach.
