Home Pest Control: Safe Methods for Moms and Dads

Spread the love

home pest controlFor houses near wooded areas, pests can be a year-round battle, especially if cleaning your home can sometimes be a challenge with your busy schedule and messy toddlers. For people living in apartments in the city, pest infestations can be unavoidable due to the high volume of people living together producing waste.

But don’t worry; here are some great tips and tricks for controlling pests in your home. Keep in mind that calling pest control services can also solve your problem quickly but not permanently. Even after you call in the exterminators, Edge Pest Control says these tips can prevent further infestations from forming:

• Bitter Cucumber Keeps Most Insects Away.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, cockroaches, ants and other insects find cucumber slices repulsive. To give your veggie treat an extra punch, add some crushed garlic to enhance the deterrent.

• Don’t Hang Dark-colored Laundry Outside or on the Porch.

Mosquitoes love dark and damp places—especially your wet laundry. Try to run the dark colored clothes through the drier since the sun would fade their color anyway. If you want to hang up clothes outside, make sure you’ve shaken enough water out of them and they’re light-colored.

• Leave Small Packets of Crushed Mint Around the House to Ward off Flies.

Mint doesn’t just give your homes a great scent; it also chases away  flies, which probably don’t want to smell minty fresh at all.

• Cedar Oil Keeps Most Insects Away.

Spray a mixture of cedar oil and water on your shrubs and bushes. Don’t be afraid of harming the kids—only the insects and their eggs will find the concoction deadly.

• Keep a Spray Bottle Filled with Soapy Water Handy.

Instead of harmful bug repellants and bug killing spray, some soapy water can do the job without being harmful to your family.

Calling pest control services is also a good solution, but they’ll be the first ones to tell you that proper, regular maintenance is the best action to take.
